Dear Maryland Golfers,
I am sure that you can’t wait to get back on the golf courses. The Board of the MSGA-WD has worked hard to ensure that the 2008 golf season will be varied and challenging with playable course set ups and terrific new venues.
With the inroduction of Blue Golf this past year, many of you have experienced its innovative services, including online registration, interactive tournament results, tee times , e-mail communication and much more. Our membership is much better served by using this high performance and reliable system.
We have some exciting and important announcements regarding MSGA-WD past and current board members: Pat Kaufman has been selected to serve on the USGA’s Executive Committee., the ruling body of the USGA. As many of you know, Pat served as the first President of the MSGA-WD. Stacey Collins, our immediate Past President, has been invited to serve on the USGA’s Women’s Committee. This Committee is in charge of all women’s competitions. Jean Mulcahey , the current Rules Chair of the MSGA-WD, is serving on the USGA’s Mid AM Committee. What a special time for women’s golf in Maryland and congratulations to these very talented women.
New for 2008 will be the addition of the Mid Amateur Championship. This event will be open to women in the state of Maryland who are 30 years old and over and will be hosted by Lakewood Country Club in Rockville. This Championship will be a two-day, 36 hole stroke play tournament, with prizes awarded for both low gross and low net.
The Board will continue its efforts on improving all aspects of tournament administration, as well as continuing to implement pace of play guidelines for the better enjoyment of all players. It is our goal to provide you, the player, with the best possible golfing experience.
Good luck to everyone in 2008 and we look forward to seeing you on the golf course.
Best Wishes,
