Denny McCarthy, former Maryland Open and Junior Champion, was named to the 2012 All-ACC Men's Golf team and ACC Freshman of the Year in his first year at the University of Virginia. Denny is a former Georgetown Prep standout from Argyle Country Club, and is no stranger to success. Billy Hoffman, an assistant professional at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Va., fired a 3-under-67 at Rolling Road Golf Club to lead a field of 146 in qualifying for the annual Amateur and Open championships of the Maryland State Golf Association, May 8. Rick Sovero and Andy Pataki clinched a 3-0 win over Steve Ligi and Finley Benjamin on the 17th green at Rolling Road Golf Club, and the last two points were enough to get Rolling Road past Beaver Creek Country Club, 10-8, in the 82nd Team Match Championship of the Maryland State Golf Association, May 5. Players participating in the upcoming U.S. Open Qualifier at Clustered Spires GC on Monday, May 14th should review the letter to competitors as well as the information on Grooves before arriving at the tournament. The MSGA is introducing "Play Days" to our schedule for 2012. Play Days are one-day tournaments for men and women golfers of all ages and abilities. Our current schedule includes three four-ball events to be held at Hillendale CC, the CC at Woodmore and the Suburban Club. Cart and range fees are inlcuded, and net and gross prizes are awarded to the top finishers. Full Details >> |
