Founded in 1921, the Maryland State Golf Association fulfills its constitutional mandate by promoting the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions; sponsoring and conducting state tournaments as well as USGA qualifying rounds each year; educating and informing Maryland golfers about changes in the Rules of Golf; fostering respect for the game of golf as well as its Rules; and awarding scholarships.

Rice and Bauchou Share Medal at U.S. Open Local Qualifying
Andrew Rice, of Baltimore, highlighted local U.S. Open qualifying at Lake Presidential Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, May 14, when he shot a share of the day's low round, a 1-under-par 71 in the afternoon, to advance to the sectional for the third straight year. Church, Lewis, and Wellde Share the Lead at Amateur/Open Qualifier
For most of a mild, sunny, and breezy day the White Plains Golf Course held the upper hand on a field of 100 attempting to qualify for the annual Maryland State Amateur and Open championships. Players Endure Tough Conditions at Two Amateur/Open Qualifiers
Cool, windy weather was made worse by a steady rain which lasted for much of the day. At Argyle, the cut for the Amateur was 80 and the Open cut was 78. At Sparrows Point, the Amateur cut fell at 81 and the Open cut fell at 79. One additional qualifier remains at White Plains GC on May 15. FULL STORY>> |
